Store Keeper Job Description:

A Store Keeper, also known as a Store Clerk or Warehouse Keeper, is responsible for managing and organizing a company’s or organization’s inventory, keeping track of goods, and ensuring smooth operations within a storage facility or warehouse. The role may vary slightly based on the specific industry and organization, but the core responsibilities and qualifications generally remain the same.

Store Keeper Job Responsibilities:

Inventory Management:

Maintain accurate and updated records of all incoming and outgoing goods.

Monitor and track inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock and avoid overstocking or stock outs.

Conduct regular inventory audits to reconcile discrepancies and maintain accurate stock records.

Receiving and Dispatching:

Receive incoming shipments and verify the contents against purchase orders or delivery notes.

Inspect and ensure the quality of goods received and report any damages or discrepancies.

Prepare and process outgoing shipments, including packing, labeling, and arranging transportation.

Organization and Storage:

Organize and arrange goods in a systematic and easily accessible manner within the storage facility or warehouse.

Implement efficient storage solutions to maximize space utilization and ease of retrieval.

Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following safety and hygiene guidelines.

Order Processing:

Fulfill internal and external orders by picking, packing, and preparing the requested items for delivery or pickup.

Coordinate with various departments to ensure timely and accurate order processing and delivery.

Record Keeping:

Record all transactions related to inventory, including receipts, returns, and transfers, using appropriate documentation and software.

Generate and maintain reports related to inventory levels, transaction history, and other relevant metrics as required.

Communication and Collaboration:

Collaborate with procurement, sales, and other relevant departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of inventory-related activities.

Notify relevant departments about low stock levels or potential inventory shortages.

Quality Control:

Assist in quality checks and inspections of goods to ensure they meet the required standards before storage or dispatch.

Store Keeper Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in inventory management is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Store Keeper, Warehouse Clerk, or similar role.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
