Foreign nationals who wish to stay in the UAE for a long period of time need a residence visa. Additionally, if you are allowed to work, you will also need a UAE work permit. But first of all, you need an employer who will hire you and start the necessary process to obtain a UAE work visa and work permit. To work in the UAE, you and the company that employs you must:-

- The work you do should match the type of company that employs you.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A UAE WORK VISA?
Foreign nationals over the age of 18 can work in the UAE provided they meet the criteria set by the Emirates Ministry of Human Resources (MoHRE). Although there is no upper age limit for employment in the UAE, companies pay higher rates for workers aged 65 and above. Foreign workers are classified into the following three categories depending on their educational background and skills.
- Category 1: If you have at least a bachelor’s degree.
- Category 2: If you have a post-secondary degree in some field.
- Category 3: If you have a high school diploma.
WHAT DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR A UAE WORK VISA?
If you are applying for a UAE work visa, you will need several supporting documents such as:
- Original passport and passport copy.
- Passport size photo as per UAE requirements.
- Copy of academic records. Eligibility must be approved by her UAE embassy or consulate in your country and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your country.
- Medical certificate issued by a government-approved health center in the UAE.

HOW LONG IS A UAE WORK PERMIT VALID?

During this period, you and your employer will need to obtain a residence visa, Emirates ID card, and work card. It is the residence visa in addition to the work card that allows you to legally live and work in the UAE. WHAT IS THE UAE WORK VISA PROCESS?
After she enters the UAE with MoHRE approval, your employer must apply for your residence visa to the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) of the emirate where you will be working. You need to apply.
Once your application is approved, GDRFA will issue a work visa (residency visa for employment purposes) in your passport and you will receive an Emirates ID card, valid for the same period of validity as the visa. - Find a job in Dubai (while holding a UAE tourist visa or through UAE online job portals or job fairs).
- Your employer applies for a work permit for you while you are still in your home country.
- If approved, use your work permit to enter Dubai.
- Your employer will arrange for you to undergo a medical examination and apply for a residence card for employment on your behalf with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai. This must be done within 60 days, which is within the validity period of the permit.
- Your employer will ensure that you receive your work card and Emirates ID.
How much does a Dubai work visa cost? Visa costs for Dubai are the same as for other emirates in the UAE (see above). However, in most cases, the company that hires you will pay the full cost of your visa fees and work permit.
